I read somewhere that some of the cut scenes were cut because they made Yon-Rogg appear too sympathetic, and this is probably one of them. I wish they'd kept it because of the Kree kids, though - it feels like having this scene would've humanized the Kree more and helped underscore the movie's message rather than just flipping the narrative sympathy from the Kree to the Skrulls. Also, there's a part of me that feels sad for all those kid actors not getting to see themselves on the big screen!
So lovely to watch, though! Totally adopting this as headcanon.
