Discussion Post: Relationships You Want to See More Of

There's a vast array of cosmic ships and platonic relationships--which ones are you crossing your fingers that future material (or future fanworks) will explore?

These could be relationships that have been extensively portrayed but that you always want more of anyway--I know I could watch movie after movie of the complicated Thor & Loki relationship gradually settling into a happier, more stable state. But there are also a ton of relationships that exist on-screen but haven't been given a ton of time, like certain individual relationships between the Guardians, and then, of course, there are all the characters who have never even met, but whose interactions would hold so much untapped potential.

So what are some of your rarepairs, romantic or platonic? Some of your mainstay relationships that you'd always welcome more of? Do you have actual hopes of them making it to the screen at some point--in theaters or on Disney+--or are you convinced fandom will have to fill the void for you?

Me too! I can’t get enough of them.

I’m a diehard Tony/Loki shipper. It will never be canon so I read fic. But I’d love to see just one or two more scenes between them on screen.

Mantis & anyone is something I’d love more of. Just give me more Mantis.

I am REALLY looking forward to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+. I could watch those two snark at each other all day long.

I once read a crossover between MCU and Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which Buffy and Cap get together. I have wanted Buffy in the MCU ever since!

Let's see...

Relationships that already got quite a bit of screentime but I enjoyed them so much that I'd like more of them in future movies:
- Thor&Rocket (might even happen and I want to see what it looks like post-Endgame, given that they are both in different emotional places compared to IW/EG)
- Thor&Valkyrie (again, very likely, and I'm here for their different and complicated relationships with Asgard)
- Carol&/Maria and Carol&Monica (this better happens, in any way, shape, and form - given when Captain Marvel was set, Monica should be quite a bit older now, so that could be interesting, too)

People who haven't met but very likely will: Valkyrie and Jane, looking forward to that.

Thor and Carol could potentially be interesting, too. Also, Groot and Goose having their very own take on things, please?

Plus, Endgame got me very interested in Nebula&Rhodey! They have a similar dryness in completely different ways and they seem to have spent quite a bit of the five years working together - I'd love some missing scenes fanfic from those years. (That goes for just about every Endgame relationship tbh.) Post-Endgame could be really cool, too, but I don't think the MCU will give me that. (I have no idea if Cheadle is even still on the payroll?)

And finally, I'm just sad that Carol and Tony never got to actually develop any kind of relationship. I'd certainly have taken more of Tony with Nebula, Thor, or Rocket as well. And if the surprise ending for the Black Widow movie is that Gamora and Natasha bond and then fight their way out of the soul stone together, I would not complain in the slightest. (Not gonna happen, I know, but I'd really like it to.)

I agree with the above comment that I'd love to see more of Mantis's relationships, especially her broship with Drax. Nebula is another one whose relationships are endlessly fascinating to me. We've never really had her interacting with Peter at all, and I'd really like to see them, perhaps, bonding over their shared grief for Gamora.

... also, I KNOW, I KNOW but I really kinda hope Yon-Rogg comes back for the next CM movie, even if it's as a villain. I would really like to see where things go with him and Carol from where we last saw them.

We will probably never see Xandar again, given its Thanos-ification, but I really would like to see Nova Prime and the sympathetic guard dude interact with the Guardians again.

Carol and Valkyrie is another team-up I hope we get to see someday.

ETA: Oh, and the Guardians having to cat-sit Goose, or finding her on their ship! That would be really fun, and also probably a complete disaster.

I do too. ;__; Their relationship is so weird and messy and complicated! I want more of it.
