How do you solve a problem like...
Hello, and welcome to your weekly Sunday discussion post! This week's topic relates to the final trailer for Avengers: Endgame.
The trailer shows the Avengers facing off (again) against Thanos. While I would have preferred that Thanos NOT be in the movie, I'm going in hoping that this is the last we'll see of him.
My hope is that Nebula gets to kill him, because she's the one who most deserves revenge. What would you like to see happen to Thanos? Gamora kills him after she comes back from the dead? Thor cuts off his head, like he should have done the first time? Tony experiments on him the way that Thanos experimented on Nebula? Share his fate in comments!

FUCKING SERIOUSLY
I'm going in hoping that this is the last we'll see of him.
It better be, after all the "after Endgame everything is Completely Totally Different" thing Feige keeps spinning, unless that's the lie that happens every time with the comics events. I honestly HOPE it's going to be a team effort where it depends on everyone kicking in, because omfg just for once I want Team the Best Team to team up and win at something again. But they kind of tried that (BADLY, because of Stupid Director Tricks) in IW, so I don't know if it'll be repeated. The reddit fanbros are already creaming themselves over the idea of Tony travelling back and forth in time to save everyone, and Carol getting knocked out/KILLED by Thanos in the first act, sight. (No kidding, they're really all "Or she could die!") Sebastian Stan had that famous spoiler where he said he met Michelle Pfeiffer and there was a scene with "forty heroes," which suggests maybe the Remainders and the Fallen will all join together to defeat him, which would be kinda awesome, no lie.
To be more positive, lol. I want Gamora to somehow join forces with Nebula from inside the Soul Stone and for them to be absolutely instrumental in taking him down together, with Carol helping. Okoye and Val too. The dudes all failed hard in IW, so they can sit this one out. (Yeah I'm not done being bitter about that movie. I will never be not-bitter.) It sounds like it's going to be the O6 though (i.e Five Guys and One Girl) with a heavy emphasis on Tony, and the Russos hinted maybe Steve will get more screentime ("people who didn't get a lot of storytime in the first movie get more in the second." By which they also seem to mean Clint. Not Nat of course!). Oh yeah, and Ant-Man. Because Hope, who has the way better suit and trained nearly all her life and was "the first woman to co-lead a Marvel movie!", got snappified.
....okay I suck at being positive. Need more coffee. Nebula rescuing Gamora somehow and them teaming up. Carol using her demonstrated speed and energy powers to pummel Thanos to a pulp. I can see Nebula killing him out of revenge, but I kind of want Gamora to kill him because of that endless drivel about how he "loved" her and him PUSHING HER OVER A FUCKING CLIFF IN SLO-MO.* It would be a little hard to fit in with her psychology tho maybe -- maybe if he was threatening Nebula or Nebula tried to kill him, and he nearly kills her instead, so Gamora kills him to save her sister. Then maybe a shot of Tiny!Gamora looking at Thanos, and then Tiny!Nebula comes into the frame and takes her hand and they both stand looking at him. (I am a sap, what can I say. But also, THIS PANEL)

They fucked it up in the comics by having her take on another name and be batshit or something, but I was like, yyyyyyeah, the child you ripped from her home and trained to be the best killer is going to be the weapon that CUTS OFF YOUR HEAD. https://abload.de/img/img_9201kkcvh.jpg (Altho it does seem more likely to me Nebula might do that in MCU? I would really love any scenario where it turns out the dusted aren't actually dead but have instead been shuttled off to a parallel universe, meaning that the whole movie is less about resurrection and more about reunion and bringing the two worlds back together, or setting up some kind of portal so people can move back and forth between the two realities. I feel like this is the kind of thing that would totally happen in comics but is a little too hard to explain at the beginning of each new movie and so won't be happening in the films, but I want it. If we're just talking about rewinding time to get rid of Thanos's actions, I want them to go back further then the Snap, because I want to save Gamora and the refugee Asgardians and anything that brings back everybody else but not them will leave me with a bad, bitter taste in my mouth.
I could be down with a very bittersweet scenario where Thanos basically gets rewound out of the universe entirely, so then everyone wakes up in a world where he never existed, and so then you could have a movie dealing with the Guardians all being separated but having odd urges pointing them towards each other--and eventually recovering their other memories--and the Loki TV show would have some kind of funky AU possibilities because something different could have happened post-Thor 1 (although I kind of still want everything to wind up in Ragnarok mode).

I've had this thought, too... a sort of "energy can neither be created nor destroyed" thing, just moved from one place to another. I think seeing parallel universes would be cool.

Ooh, yeah, I like that way of putting it, too. And it would be such a good slap to Thanos, driving home that he doesn't have the absolute control over the universe that he thought he did.

I'm still not over how much I loved the end of Ragnarok and how thoroughly IW destroyed it within minutes. I'm glad there's still a whole genre of post-Ragnarok fic that just ignores the whole thing.

Ooh, yes please. And in comics, you could totally have a mini told from the POV of the people in the soul stone/alternate plane/where the fuck-ever, too, that's a big part of what I love about them. Or alternating even. I'm maybe still hopeful that we'll see them in the quantum realm? They can be brought back that way? Doesn't look like it, though, sigh.

SERIOUSLY. (Also, Heimdall! How could they kill Idris Elba??) Loki too, not that I'm a huge fan of MCU Loki but basically I want the end of Ragnarok all over again, where Asgard is the people on the ship and they're looking for home. (Carol could help! ....I think there's already been fic of this.)
