Endgame hopes and fears? (spoiler free)

So since this weekend might be most peoples' last chance to speculate on what they'd like to see -- or it could be a bit longer for people who weren't lucky enough to nab a first-weekend seat! -- anyone want to talk in the comments about what they would like to see? Not like to see? (I just personally like hearing about what people are interested in pre-spoilage.)

I'll start: OMG I DON'T WANT STEVE TO DIE. I don't want any of them to die, but I would personally find it really depressing for him. Nooo!

I would like to see Carol ending Thanos, or Nebula ending Thanos (dream wish: Nebula AND Gamora ending Thanos), or some kind of Team the Best Team moment where they just get him. The defeat was so devastating in IW, and I feel like the team's been split up since AoU and I'd love to see them come together one last? time for a big victory.

Honestly my biggest worry/fear for Endgame is that it's going to reset aspects of the MCU that will joss other things in the MCU, such as previous movies or the TV shows. I think I can deal with just about any changes going forward, as long as it's not going to completely invalidate everything I've already written, or aspects of the MCU that are mostly unconnected to the movies, such as Agent Carter. I just don't want it to change things so profoundly that I'll be forced to either deal with it in my non-Avengers fic, or go AU to ignore it.

Oh ghod, if they do joss previous movies, or anything about PEGGY, that is going to get real ugly real quick. I think the Netflix characters are probably pretty safe (and sadly, also probably pretty much AU at this point. Altho I'm going to keep them as canon no matter what). It does seem like some of the beloved interstitial spaces fandom loves to play in will get shut down by Endgame just because it is so self-consciously The Ending for a lot of stories/character.

- Gamora resurrected
- Gamora and Nebula slaying Thanos because JUSTICE
- Loki returning from the dead
- Loki and Tony Stark making out and having sex on screen
- With Pepper watching
- And possibly directing the whole scene
- Peggy Carter and Natasha and Carol KICKING EVERYONE'S ASSES
- Thor and Rocket spaceshipping off into the galaxy to fight crime
- VALKYRIE
- Steve and Bucky and Sam forming a rock band
- Robert Downey Jr. winning an Academy Award for best leading actor

Hand to God, if SOMETHING like this isn't in the movie, altho I've kind of resigned myself to no Gamora (I fully expect Guardians 3 to be "The Search for Gamora"), I will be utterly disappointed. I really really want Nebula to avenge her sister.

RDJ was nominated twice: once for Chaplin (he lost to Al Pacino for Scent of a Woman) and once for Tropic Thunder (lost to Heath Ledger for his portrayal of The Joker in The Dark Knight).

Wow, only two noms (and only ONE for best actor?!) is incredible. I can kinda get him losing to Heath, but....Scent of a Woman?? Lord that movie was bad.

Yeah, pretty sure it was Pacino’s umpteenth nomination and he had never won, so it was one of those votes where the Academy gave it to him as a reward for past greatness. Plus I think he played a blind guy, and we know how Hollywood loves its ableism.

- Valkyrie showing up, astride a giant space goat.
- Steve and Bucky have one last banter before Steve eats it... Maybe they can even hug.
- T'Challa comes back and everyone helps pull Wakanda back together, like good house guests.
- Loki comes back, antagonizes Thor in a friendly fashion, fucks off again.
- Carol 'n' Fury reunion.
- Antman in Thanos' booty.

I gotta say, I am really hopeful for some great Nebula and Tony interactions. Rocket and Tony, I expect to hate each other--but I'm a sucker for basically anything remotely nice happening to Nebula, and she's great fun to watch, and I expect her to drive Tony absolutely bugfuck nuts.

I am hoping for some good moments there. *all fingers crossed*

I REALLY don't want Thor to die. Poor guy! I guess we're never going to have a reunion with Loki, or some badass scene where he goes to Valhalla and gets Hela to support him, but yeah, some closure and happiness for him would be good.

and please PLEASE no whacky retcons. Altho I thought they were going to SUDDENLY introduce the Skrull Wars in Captain Marvel, and it was a very pleasant surprise they didn't. (They might still go for it in the future, who knows, altho I think movie audiences are a little less forgiving of "this character you know and love is an evil fake.")

Preferably Bucky's arm or Thor's eye.

I want Tony and Loki to team up during some time travel shenanigans. On-screen flirting? Just me?

I'm curious to see how characters we haven't seen interact with each other interact. Mantis and Natasha?

Clint Barton should just save the day singlehandedly. Yes, I'm still annoyed with how little screen time he's gotten.

Tony making fun of the Zune, and Peter Quill making fun of all Earth tech in response.

T'Challa taking point in a battle scene (that isn't just a group of Wakandans).

I'm afraid that they'll win at saving the universe, but in the process, kill almost everyone the audience has watched over the years.

I have the sneaking suspicion that, like the previous Avengers movie, there will be too many people, and that will make the interactions seem boring and/or meaningless.

It would be evil, but evil in a way I would find acceptable, if Tony Stark had to sacrifice himself for the greater good (in a way that parallels the first Avengers movie) leaving Peter Parker without a mentor and sponsor. He'll be broke and full of a strong urge to do right, as a Spider-man should be. There, I said it.
