Skrulls, gender and sex

Were there multiple children on the space station, or was it just weird editing and it's all Talos' and Soren's
child?

Is there a reason (a good reason) that a species that's not even carbon-based has sexual dimorphism that happens to correspond to Terran norms? Or, is General Talos somewhat more Mom than Dad? Do we know which of the Skrulls per the early scenes of their disguising was replicating Coulson?

Ant-man and Wasp inspired questions, with a bit of Jane Foster at my DW.

I didn’t realize that Skrulls weren’t carbon-based. What are they made of?

I don't think there's a reason beyond, they didn't think about it/weren't interested in xenobiology/don't even realize the social norms they think are universal to all humanity are in fact just the ones they grew up with. Personally I haaaate this - why should aliens be similar biologically given that they are not even related to anything on this planet, much less socially? OK the short answer is because media is made for humans by humans, but still!! The difference between humans -> bacteria is incredibly vast, far bigger than the aliens-with-a-tentacle depictions, and despite that humans & bacteria are descended from one species. Ugh, it's so boring when creators do this. I demand more interesting aliens!!

I thought the kids on the space station were multiple kids, not just Talos and Soren's. I think they're the remnant population of Skrulls.
