Sticky: Welcome!
My main goal with this comm is to make it a kind of clearinghouse to help you get eyes on fanworks, meta, etc, and to help you find stuff other people are posting! It can be hard to find and connect with other folks who are into what you're into, especially if you're into gen or rarepairs. I'm also hoping for the comm to host a weekly discussion feature and maybe a prompt fest at some point, but in the meantime, we enthusiastically encourage people to post any of the following:
* Fanwork recs
* Your own fanwork
* Meta
* Discussion questions
* Canon help questions
* Promotion of exchanges, fests, etc that allow cosmic MCU ships or characters
* Links to any of the above on your own or other journals
* Probably some other things we've forgotten to mention!
You can see all the specific posting rules in our profile. These are subject to tweaking as we figure things out.

AU in which Odin is mostly-honest, Thor is still a spoilt brat, and Loki still deserves a smack in the mouth. Or, that time the MCU was inhabited by the comic versions of Thor and Loki.

Doctor Strange 2 filming complete or will be within a few days
I didn't even realize they'd started filming. I don't know if they've been super low key or I've been distracted. When I did a google search for an article, the top result was about comparing Shadow and Bone to Doctor Strange and not something about Doctor Strange itself. Most of the places I get Marvel news from didn't mention it.

Thor Ragnarok and Captain Marvel
(from my own meta)
Thor Ragnarok gets at [deconstructing imperialism/colonialism] in the mythic language of our times, in the CGI effect of Asgard's gilded Just So Story cracking and flaking to reveal the earlier bombast that ran in blood and booty. Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Thor Ragnarok taken together are much like Captain America's Shield in CA:TFA when he's chasing down in the corridors after Red Skull and he flings it to ricochet and lodge into a door closing.
Other than the fx, we could have had Captain Marvel in 1995. That's the bittersweet reality that's not evident to those too young to remember. It's hewing to the rules of then, it's a message in a bottle to who we were. It took so long. It's framed as nostalgia but at the time the world was changing. In Context
(How did Mar-Vel see all those bits of material culture she had brought to her hidden refuge/what do they tell us about Hala/the Kree 'sphere?)
And, a very different tack on a Captain Marvel missing scene:
Carol gets the motorcycle There will be some conservative talking points extracted as context. This is from 2019 and is nearly 16 minutes long. We also get Brie at an award show.
Thought of a GoTG compare contrast:Mar-Vel and the consumer ephemera and the scene where Yondu acquires the gemstone 'troll' that he affixes to his command chair. We don't get a lot of world building economics in MCU in SPAAAACE! but there are crumbs.
Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home
Anyway, consider this a seed for discussion.
(Tony managed to be a supervillain posthumously. Normally that takes Reed Richards.)
So I've got a Question related to Ant-Man and Wasp
Aside:any conferences Drs. Foster and Foster could meet? Bill Foster seems to be of about an age as Erik Sevig.
Bill Foster is played by Laurence Fishburne. Is there a Marvel short film between Dr. Foster and Nick Fury? A table read for one, set back when the fx would need to BARF?
Fan fiction?
(For those that need more context, at one point Laurence Fishburne and Samuel L. Jackson kept getting thanked for each others performances and it was rather a Thing that they needed to be seen at the same time so that would stop happening Quite So Much.)
Of course, talking about Ghost|Ava would be good too. Pretty sure the phasing makes her Cosmic adjacent and her story and Gamora's have some parallels what with SHIELD|Hydra raising her as a weapon. And some with Nebula in particular.
Skrulls, gender and sex
child?
Is there a reason (a good reason) that a species that's not even carbon-based has sexual dimorphism that happens to correspond to Terran norms? Or, is General Talos somewhat more Mom than Dad? Do we know which of the Skrulls per the early scenes of their disguising was replicating Coulson?
Ant-man and Wasp inspired questions, with a bit of Jane Foster at my DW.
Re-watched Captain Marvel and wrote some essays
Nick Fury has some examples drawn from Captain Marvel.
Anyone want to talk about Kree and Skrulls, MCU versus 616?

Today I added Meredith Quill’s Complete Awesome Mix to my Spotify account for you to enjoy. This is part of the list of songs Meredith Quill loved that I chose the songs for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol’s 1 and 2 soundtracks from. Some of these songs almost made it into the movie (She’s Gone) and others I always wanted to use but could never find the right place for them. Whatever the case, I never intended on sharing these songs, as I might use them in future movies. But I think the need for all of us to have some joyousness in these difficult times outweighs all that. Link in my bio. #guardiansofthegalaxy #gotg #awesomemix #marvel

In related news, if you would like to host discussion posts for a month, please hit me up! Otherwise I think the comm is going to go to just unscheduled posting (ie, whatever anyone feels like posting, whenever they feel like posting it), at least until we get closer to our next cosmic MCU release.

Discussion Post: Kree Reform
At the end of Captain Marvel, Carol sends Yon-Rogg back to Hala with a message that she's coming to end the war and, by implication, Kree dominion, at least in its most ruthlessly imperialistic forms. And by the time of Guardians of the Galaxy, Ronan the Accuser is at least a slightly rogue figure, one who can't be officially sanctioned by his government--but who isn't being strongly denied, either. And people on Hala were still protesting the treaty with the Xandar.
The gap in the history of Hala and the Kree is really intriguing. What's been happening there since Carol sent back her message? How much has Kree society changed (or not changed) in the intervening years? What internal or external changes would it take to produce a Kree Empire, or a Hala, less dependent on militaristic conquering of other worlds and cultures?
And how much time has Carol spent there between Captain Marvel and the post-credits scene in Infinity War? Has Yon-Rogg played a role in any cultural shifts, and if so, how? Do you take the reference to a "Kree Emperor" in Guardians of the Galaxy to mean canonical replacement of the Supreme Intelligence, or do you take a Doylist perspective and say the SI is still around and it's just a pre-CM inconsistency?
